The Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) is responsible for the production of all sterile requirements of the hospital and the area it's servers other than the pharmaceuticals, bedpans and urinals. Pharmaceuticals are the responsibility of the pharmacist. It is also impractical to cetralize the cleaning of bedpans and urinals which are used in the hospital and it would be labourious and costly to continually transport them about the hospital.en_US
