The interferon story is a dynamic, active and changing story. Interferon was discovered in 1957 by virologists Alick Isaac and Jean Lindermann, during studies of a biological phenomena known as "viral interference'. It was so called because it was observed that a victim of one kind of virus-caused illness, practically never came down with another viral disease at the same time.en_US
